What a rare aircrafttag from our History Collection.
A6-EKJ was delivered to Emirates in 1992 as 6th member of the A310 fleet.
The Airbus A310 was a real gamechanger for Emirates. This wide-bodied aircraft marked the beginning of the company's expansion into the huge airline it is today.. As soon as the A310 joined the fleet, flights to Europe and Asia were possible. In total Emirates operated 10 A310 in their passanger fleet. Some in their Cargo fleet.
The A310 soon became too small for the rapidly growing airline. And as early as 1997 the first A310s were replaced by larger A330s and B777s.
From 2001 onwards it was operated by Air Transat as C-GPAT until it was stored in 2020.

This aluminium spent decades between +40 °C on the ramp and −60 °C at altitude, through rain, hail, de-icing fluid and ultraviolet light. It has dents, scratches and paint wear. That wear is the evidence that it flew - a flawless piece would mean it never did.
